This beautiful spot is colloquially known as Charco Negro, but its waters are so crystal-clear that it could arguably have another name. The current name comes from the fact that sunlight only enters at certain hours of the day, making the water appear dark, in addition to its depth of approximately 5 meters.
Access is only via the river in an activity known as river trekking (hidrosenderismo), covering approximately 500 meters along the river to reach this impressive pool. As a final point, visitors can reach the La Sombrilla waterfall, located about 100 meters from Charco Negro.
